TechFlow’s Scientific and Cyber Security team has an immediate opening for a Mid-level Systems Administrator.

Position Description:

The System Administrator/Cyber Security Analyst will participate in the following:

Performing daily, weekly and monthly system administration support in a Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) hosted by Amazon Cloud.

Support may include but is not limited to the following:

Creating backups via Amazon Images (AMIs), basic observation of Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.X (RHEL) and Windows Server 2008 R2 operating systems (OS) to ensure optimal performance and generate reports accordingly.

  • Generates reports by aggregating data from a mobile device manager (MDM).
  • Conduct analysis, evaluation, and the preparation of recommendations for systems improvements, optimization, development, and/or maintenance efforts.
  • Recognizes problems by identifying abnormalities; reporting violations.

Maintains the security posture by assessing current situation; evaluating trends; anticipating requirements
Upgrades system by implementing and maintaining security controls as directed by the program office.
Maintains quality service by following organization standards.
Maintains technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing publications as needed.
May provide input on extensive environment system of procedures (SOP) development.
Entry-level support to cybersecurity/Information Assurance analysis and Assessment and Authorization (A&A) activities

Job Requirements

Associate's Degree AS/AA in science, engineering, management, or other relevant field and a minimum of two (2) years of recent experience supporting a deployed could-based system.  An additional two (2) years of experience may be substituted for the degree.

Candidates must be proficient with Windows Server 2008 R2 and have experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server 6 operating systems. Candidates must have experience in the areas of implementing encryption solutions, key management, patch management, identification and authentication administration, and auditing/monitoring systems and network devices.

Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP), CompTIA Linux+, and Cisco Certified Network Administrator (CCNA) are desirable but not mandatory. Any experience with Tenable Nessus or similar network vulnerability scanner is also desirable.

Candidates must have the ability to obtain CompTIA Security+ certification within 60 days of joining the team.

Experience in A&A documentation, application of NIST Special Publications 800-37 and 800-53, DICAP to RMF transitions, system testing and hardening using DISA STIGs, and use of cybersecurity testing tools (i.e., Tenable Nessus/Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS), Nmap, Wireshark, Burp Suite) considered a plus
